Hi! My name is Emily Richie and I'm a junior studying Journalism at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Growing up I've always taken pictures of anything and everything and that has continued to this day. From having a point-and-shoot to now owning a Canon DSLR, photography has always been special to me. Since I've gotten to college, something else sparked my interest, video and sports broadcasting. This concept was introduced to me my freshman year when I was offered a position at Fighting Illini Productions. There I would then go on to learn the various positions needed in a broadcast, specifically on Big Ten Plus. Freshman year I had the opportunity to direct some broadcasts and learn how to field produce and since then I've been able to learn nearly all the positions. Junior year I have had the privilege of producing a sports show and learning what it takes to work on the television side of things. While this was something brand new to me, it taught me how to be patient and accept that making mistakes will teach you more in the long run. I'm excited to see where the rest of my journey takes me!
